I’m So Lost – Week 3

I don’t know why I cook these mini-series up. Sometimes I think I bite off more than I can chew. Trying to sum up a series, spanning 4 seasons thus far and spawning infinite mysteries, all to boil it down to 4 posts is asinine. Plus, there’s always that pesky Writer’s Block sneaking around my block, shaking its fist and threatening to steal all my valuable thoughts. If only I could just quit the Nine-to-Five and set to work wordsmithing then I wouldn’t feel like my brain was straining to just shut itself down at the end of each day.

Oh well, I got myself into this mess. I might as well work my way through. Hopefully you guys are grooving on this little exercise aimed at keeping us Lost obsessed as we weather this brief hiatus.

So far, we’ve tackled the Smoke Monster, the Numbers, Jacob, t... Continue reading »

Lost – ‘Meet Kevin Johnson’ – 4.8

Meet Kevin Johnson.

So now we know how Michael came to be Ben’s mole on the ship. And, in what was a first for the series, almost the entire episode was devoted to his flashback. Plus, they did something that they couldn’t do before, no matter how many times they had this anguished father scream for “WAAAAAA-LLLLLLLL-TTTTTTT!!!” They actually made me care for Michael’s plight. Again, more in the traditional bullet points below.

Before we get on with the show, was anyone else stung by... Continue reading »

Lost – ‘Ji Yeon’ – 4.7

Can you believe we are one episode away from the break – and only six away from season’s end? Where’d the time go?

Well, if I had some minor criticisms last week with the narrative flow, this week all was restored – even if I did feel that the writers employed a narrative cheat in telling the tale of Ji Yeon. More on that below. That said, I thought this was a great episode, that hit many bases and brought us equal doses of heart and mystery.

On with the show.

1.   Ji Yeon is the name that Jin has chosen for this new baby girl. Of course, her mere existence brings back a whole host of questions – all of which have been hidden from Jin to date. As his command of English blossoms and Sun’s actions become more desperate, the two elements conspire to reveal these secrets to Jin. So it’s through this episode, and Juliet’... Continue reading »
