It’s high time we got this show on the road… and I need all the help I can get from my good friends and acquaintances. I thought writing this thing was the hard part BUT that’s nothing compared to the Herculean task of bringing it to the stage this November.
But like everything, nothing is impossible so long as you have drive, and a plan… AND GOOD FRIENDS!!!
That image above is the official Audition Announcement for my new play – ‘The Lost World’. The details are below but I’d like to encourage all of you, even if you have no interest in auditioning – to think long and hard about whether you know anyone who would love nothing more than to make their stage dreams come true in a WORLD PREMIERE production.
Therefore, if you know anyone interested in auditioning for the Fall Production of ‘The Lost World‘ – please share this Audition Notice with them. I’d like to get this out to as many people as possible. If they have any questions, please send them my way.
There are a lot of great roles for adults in their late 20’s through early 40’s, plus a waitress role that can be played by a woman of ANY age AND also I need 6 older teens (3 boys/3 girls).
That’s my first order of business – to get this news in the hands of as many people as possible in hopes of luring a ton of people out to audition for a little over a dozen roles and thus make my job real hard when it comes time to choosing the right person for the right role. That said; that’s a pretty nice problem to have – as it means we have the opportunity to put on a great show.
Enough rambling from me. Read on for all the 411.
The Lost World – Official Announcement and Auditions
The Lost & Found Theater Group, in association with the Webster Recreation Committee, presents ‘The Lost World’ – a new production by local playwright Ed Humphries – author of last Fall’s hit production, ‘The Monkeybar Mafia’. This new play, a comedy-drama, will have its world premiere in Webster, MA on Friday, November 1, 2013 and will run through Sunday, November 3, 2013.
‘The Lost World’ tells the tale of a 20-Year High School Reunion – attended by only six people – and not just any six people. Six individuals who claim to have hated High School the most. Brought together 20 years later by a common friend, the six former classmates find themselves face-to-face in a discount hotel ballroom for one fateful night of laughs, fights, tears, and soul-searching; as they drag their skeletons to the light in a bid to exorcise the personal demons that have haunted them since they last patrolled those hallowed halls of High School. Children of the Eighties now all grown up; they’re ‘The Breakfast Club’ thrust into the Facebook generation – leading them to pine for a simpler time. An age where if you wanted to connect with someone; you reached out and touched them; not texted, tweeted or Skyped. Their world is truly “The Lost Worldâ€.
Auditions will consist of live readings from the script along with some light improv.
The producers are looking to cast 4 women and 4 men in the principal roles; ages late 20’s to early 40’s. There is one additional role that calls for a woman – any age. In addition, six teens are needed to play younger versions of some principal characters. Later-aged teens to early 20’s are encouraged to audition for those roles.
Auditions will be held on Monday August 12, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm ET at the Webster Town Hall.* The Town Hall is located at 350 Main Street, Webster MA 01570.
Please feel free to contact Ed Humphries at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions regarding the auditions or the production.
*There is an outside chance the location could change for the auditions. If so, I will send an update ahead of time.
