Send me your guess as to which actor(s)* are in the pic above, what movie it’s from and/or what scene it is and you could score up to three points.

*PS:   Only one of these three is a star. The other two are clearly bit players. Just give me the main man’s name.

I’ll award one point if you can guess the movie. Two points if you guess the actor as well. And a total of three points is possible if you can correctly guess the scene.

There will be a new pic up each day this week (starting today). I’ll post the answers, the results and the winner on Friday. Everyone has until 9:00... Continue reading »

Coming Sunday – New Contest – ‘Film Flam 411′

In two days – I’m hosting my own brand of March Madness to kick this dreaded month to the curb. I’ve written at length about my disdain for these dregs of the year – so what better way to celebrate the dawning of true Spring with a new fling.

On March 27th, I am going to launch ‘Film Flam 411′; a new mini-contest that will run for one week only. Each day, starting Sunday, I will post a new movie still on my site (with a link at Facebook) and all you need to do is guess what movie it’s from. The trick is – all actors in the scene will have their faces digitally erased – making it a little trickier to guess the movie. If you’ve played the party game Scene It, you’ve probably seen this before.

I’ll award one point if you can guess the movie. Two points if you guess the actor as... Continue reading »

Finding Fish Pants – Part 2

When last we left, my wife Andi and I were merely four weeks into our courtship – way back before we’d ever settled down as husband and wife – and enjoying a little mid-winter siesta South of the Mason-Dixon. Enticed by the allure of free Disney tickets, we got suckered into a time-share scheme and just barely made it out of the hardest sell of our young lives. With the sales weasels left in the dust, we hit up the Orlando parks and procured a rental car – pointing our collective nose in the direction of Ft. Lauderdale, where we were set to pick up the final leg of our journey – a weekend cruise to the Bahamas.

As we cruised South on I-95, under a baby-blue Florida sky, a quick peek at the rear-view would have revealed darkness brewing; as thunderclouds and time share enforcers were now hot on our tail. Obl... Continue reading »

Finding Fish Pants – Part 1

Back in late January, I set the table for today’s tale – telling y’all about how my wife Andi and I first came together. If you haven’t read it, hit the link and do your homework. There’s some key intel there that will help color today’s tale of woe.

As for the rest of ya’, let’s continue.

In that post, I mentioned that despite the fact Andi and I have been bonded in wedded matrimony for over a decade – and together even longer – it’s stunning that we ever made it six months let alone long enough to see Y2K come and go with nary one continent destroyed.

For it was only about 4 months after we started dating that we embarked on a week’s vacation down South to hit up the House of the Mouse and then embark on a little... Continue reading »

Fringe – ‘Os’ – 3.16

Well, here’s some good news. Fringe SHOULD be back for a fourth season. It looked the Friday Night Death slot straight in the eye and never blinked. In fact, the ratings have remained steady (after a slight tick down following the move) which is great news. The showrunners were told that if they could maintain their slightly anemic Thursday levels on the much-less crucial Friday night slot then “the show could run for years to come“.

Well – they’ve done that. In fact, I just read an article where John Noble (Walter Bishop) said they were told they could conceivably lose 50% of their viewers and Fox would let them stay on the air. That’s roughly 2 million live viewers (not counting the DVR viewings). As of last Friday, Fringe has kept its head above 4 million. So – I thin... Continue reading »

Colin Courageous

My son humbles me greatly.

If only I had an ounce of his special brand of courage – I could leap mountains.

Earlier today, Andi and I took a trip to Colin’s elementary school to watch our blossoming second-grader take another huge leap forward in his everyday struggle with a significant social-emotional developmental delay. I’ve written about this before, a little over a year ago, so if this comes as new news, I encourage you to click this link and read that post first. As modest as I try to be most every day, I can’t refrain from calling that my best writing ever.

It ought to be. He helped me write that tale.

But as many of you know, Colin was diagnosed fairly early with a condition that falls somewhere on the wide-ranging Autistic spectrum. He probably edges more towards the ... Continue reading »
