This is a list of posts published in February 2010.

About a week ago, I found an article on EW.com where Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly announced their post-Lost plans. That got me thinking – how about dreaming up some future career marks for some of my favorite Lost contributors?
Before hitting that proverbial wish list, I’ll cover Fox and Lilly.
According to Fox, he aims to ape David Caruso and turn his back on TV for good. After a successful run on Party of Five followed by his arc on Lost (a character which was originally written with Michael Keaton in mind), he wants to explore the Hollywood hills and make his mark in the movie biz. While I think that’s a decent plan – to trade on his goodwill from this show – I’m not sure Fox has exactly what it takes to be the strong leading man on the big screen. While I like the du... Last week, my dear cousin Jason hit me up looking to see if I could do a solid for his own website.
See, in another corner of these Interwebs, Jason runs a joint called Poe Ghostal’s Points of Articulation - a site that caters to the action figure enthusiasts. While I mothballed all my ‘guys’ a long time ago in a playroom far, far away – Poe figured he’d lean on me for my Lost expertise to help him make sense of a forthcoming line of action figures tied to the Lost franchise. Now, this isn’t new ground by any stretch as a decent series of replicas were created by Todd McFarlane’s company a few years back. In fact, in Jason’s wedding, he featured an action figure in each table’s center piece and I happened to walk away scoring Kate Austen in a thicket of bamboo -Â... Continue reading »

Last week, I sat down to survey the landscape of games due to arrive in 2010 and made my selections for the ones that I would step over women, children and grandmothers to play. These are the titles worth quitting your day job and shutting out the real world and skipping bills and sustenance in order to spend just 5 more minutes enjoying. At least, that’s the fond hopes we harbor.
After all – we all make these lists early in the year and while some games match their hype, there are so many that fall woefully short.
So, for this piece, I decided to temper my expectations and pick a title that I have longed to play but have a sneaking suspicion is just royally going to disappoint me this year.
Next month, 2K Games will release the long-awaited ... Continue reading »

Regular readers of my site know that I’ve made it an annual tradition to pay tribute to my immediate family when they hit a new birthday milestone. This year we have Colin hitting seven and Aria turning the page to five – both in May. Also, our labs Abby and Chatham will turn 9 and 8, respectively. Their birthdays roll around this Spring. Then there’s yours truly, who caps it all off in early June by officially stamping myself as late 30ish when I turn 38 on the 6th.
But first it’s my beautiful bride, Andrea (or Andi to me, you and everyone else who knows and loves her). Today marks her “?” birthdate. Yes, she’s the only one whom I leave the age off these pages out of some warped sense of chivalry. That being said, she’s somewhere in league with me but I’m defin... Continue reading »

Don’t anyone panic. This happens every year.
I’ll get into it in detail below but after last week’s slam-bang premiere, which kicked off the season in style and simultaneously left our minds stirred, shaken and blown – we were bound to get that patented Lost letdown where the writers stop for a spell to get everyone’s bearings straight. It’s akin to setting the chess board – they need a little bit of exposition to get the characters pointed in the right direction – especially considering this is the final lead-up to the end game.
Anyway, more in a moment but suffice it to say, while it wasn’t my favorite hour, we always end up with one or two of these a season.
Before I do the usual rundown, I did want to lead with something that’s been on m... Continue reading »

Some time early last year, I cobbled together a list of my most anticipated games of the year. And as we’re often prone to do, as the year wound on, and new and exciting enchantments were revealed, that list changed numerous times. E3 will do that to you.
So, despite the fact that I fully intend to provide you with my picks for the top handful of games that I’ve just got to play in 2010, please don’t hold me to it. Something is bound to give at some point. Either that, or a whole helping heaping of them could simply be jettisoned to 2011 – which is what we saw last Fall when seemingly every publisher used Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as a reason to turn turtle, as if this were an industry where gamers only pledge allegiance to one title. I’m sure a f... Continue reading »

Here’s a brief programming note.
My cousin Jason runs his own Blog – aimed at the action figure enthusiast – over at poeghostal.com. While I lack the encyclopedic knowledge of that world, he recently came-a-callin’ to me looking to see if I could give a new line of Lost figures the once over and provide my knee-jerk critical reaction. I did him a solid knowing that some day, some genius would bust out an Ed Humphries mold with 98 points of articulation and fifteen different catch phrases (“I THROW LIKE A GIRL!!!”) and he’d be first in line to review that bad boy.
So, if you’re interested in reading what I had to say or you just want to be really freaked out by some creepy little concoctions that some “genius” thought consumers demand, then p... Continue reading »

I swear this SHOULD be the end of my lists.
In the last few weeks, I’ve regaled you all with thrilling tales of my favorite games and movies from 2009. Then we gazed into our crystal ball and called out the games I’ve just got to play in 2010 followed by what I feel will be the biggest disappointment in the cyber realm.
Today, I point my gaze towards the cinema and pick out 10 flicks that I would like to see on the big screen at the start of this new decade. That being said – it won’t happen. Hasn’t gone down like that for a very long time, at least not since we brought kids into this world. I would hazard a guess that 5 of these flicks will flicker before my eyes on the big screen so consider numbers 5 through 1 as those I will guarantee myself box office ad... Continue reading »

The Beginning of the End.
That’s what ABC’s crack team of sales weasels have been billing last night’s season premiere. And based on what we’ve seen, they may be right – or they could be way off. After all, there seemed to be ample evidence to support that we may just be watching the End of the Beginning. After all, our intrepid brand of heroes eventually made their way to their original destination, LAX, as spoiled completely in the Title Card.
I’m getting way ahead of myself though. Before we hit this in some semblance of chronological style, I’ll offer up a little house cleaning for any new readers.
I started this Blog way back in the Winter of 2006, so we’re officially past my 4 year anniversary. In that time, I’ve published almost 400 full length articles on this site. At the begin... Continue reading »
