Forgot to add one thing... what is up with Sayid and women? Is this guy that unlucky with picking up the ladies? Between this bounty hunter chick and the German girl that tried to waste him, he's not looking real good. Throw in the fact that two others were killed -- Shannon and Nadia -- and this guy has to wonder if he's cursed!

I'm with everyone else in loving the flaming bus quip from LaFleur and the appearance of 1/3 of the Newhart redneck troupe. As far as everything else that happened, I didn't feel like there was a lot to comment on until the end, for obvious reasons. Now, I think it would be really cool if they actually just killed Ben off, but that seems very unlikely. I am curious as to how they will save him given it appeared he took that right in the heart. Also, my feeling going into the episode was that this was Sayid's intent, but then they threw that red herring in there with him commenting about both having tough dads. This made me think he might try to rehabilitate him, but his nature won out I guess. Lastly, nice Real Genius reference.

I'm not phased about the lack of Dharma reaction to Juliet delivering the baby... remember - to Dharma, these are people that they integrated into their society from a 'crashed boat on the island'... they didn't come FROM Dharma and their aptitude tests, so for there to be something in their past that the Dharma folks didn't know, probably wouldn't phase them... Juliet wasn't afraid of blowing their cover, she was afraid of 'continuing the cycle' on babies not being able to be delivered on the Island...
If JACK is found to be a surgeon, after 'coming from the mainland' and going thorough all their testing - well, that's where the cover being blown comes from.

@Chris - The difference between Juliet delivering the baby and Jack performing major surgery is that they made a point of saying Jack's aptitude test qualified him for janitorial work. I think that ether Sawyer or Juliet faked the aptitude test to keep Jack low key. If suddenly, the janitor exhibits surgical skills - the jig will be up.

@Ed- I LOVE the idea that Ben will wake up with a knot on his head and a scar on his chest!! The look on his face would be worth having him survive! Although I gotta tell ya', a barechested Ben doesn't do it for me. If they want Sweeps, it should be Sawyer..or Sayid..or Jack...maybe with a tan, pants riding a little low, maybe going for a moonlight swim...what was I talking about?

And it bugged me all night who Oldham was in another TV life...until Ed cleared it up for me!

I had the same thoughts about the taser but quickly dismissed it since they have an electronic fence around the compound that "fries" peoples brains, or just stuns them as Amy did earlier this year.

Ed, I liked the theory on Ben being alive. But he looked pretty dead to me. I thought Sayid was going to pop one in his head to be professional about it, but maybe Jack will save him. I know that might blow his cover, but notice how nobody seems to be fazed that Juliet went from working on "flat fours" to delievering a baby!

I think it is apparent that Sayid had a death wish when he wouldn't escape when Sawyer offered or if just felt there was another purpose for him to stay there, ie kill young Ben. But he did run away pretty quickly.

Nice write up ED. The line theory reminded me of the ball of string theory in Quantum Leap. Could there be a Scott Bakula guest appearance soon? And the last scene does seem very likely. Loved the no flaming bus in three years line!!! And love you other brother daryl reference, that's what I was saying last night!.. too funny.
