Actually...one lost The Bet we make every post-season ( Yankees/Red Sox - the loser has to wear the jersey of the other team), and we all kicked in and bought him his OWN Red Sox jersey, instead of borrowing one. So yeah, I guess I dress up my Yankee-fan friends like I dress up my dogs! He's gonna need it for at least the rest of the decade!!

He's a lawyer that I've known since '92, so he gloated his way through the 90's. After the 2004 ALCS history-making romp, he asked me " Is this what it feels like to be a Red Sox fan?". On Monday, I asked HIM if this is what USED to feel like to be a Yankees fan?.

I never said I was a GOOD friend!

@Aunt Sharon: A special award to you for the line of the day. Here goes:

"My Yankee-fan friends ( and I have a few, which I basically keep as pets)."

Now if only you could do to them what you did to those pugs. Let's see the Globe print that.

@Stacy - How dare those snowbirds egg Matt's car? Wait a minute - you guys aren't that far from Tampa Bay. Hell, they might as well call that area Little Mass. Outside of that guy who picks one player on the opposition and sing-songs his name all game ("Pe-droy-ahhhhhhh, Pe,droyyyy-ahhhh) that entire Devil Rays stadium is nothing but misplaced Massholes.

As for that sentiment you expressed, I'd say that is spot on. This time is our time, baby!!!

Seconds after Varitek jumped up ( in your picture), he placed the ball in his back pocket for safekeeping, you can see him do it on the replay. He later presented it to the team in the locker room.

There are a lot of things that were better this time around, and that is one of them.

Great post, Ed. I second your observations ( nice to know you're right, huh!) and sentiments. I had read the piece on Lester in the Denver Post ( I have a terrible habit of reading competing newspapers online, the NY Daily News and NY Post are bookmarked!) and I knew it would get to them if he performed either well or badly. Uncle Ron and I had thought that Dancing Pap would be the MVP, 3 saves in 4 games, makes quite an argument for the hardware. The "announcement" by Boras in the 8th inning was timed to be just what it was, a notorious bit of selfish publicity disguised as a " I just thought you would like to know". My dream would be for them to sign Lowell, knowing that A-Rod's bat ( during the season!) is out of Yankee hands, although A-Rod over in LAA would make for a more formidable line-up than what we blew through a few weeks ago. But then, what am I thinking, that was POST-SEASON!!If Theo has truly adopted the Patriot way of thinking, he knows clubhouse poison is best kept in another clubhouse. The Yankees ( or " Hankees" as they have been dubbed in the NY press) are near pitiful, even Don Mattingly can't wear the pinstripes anymore-even though he would have been wise to let Giardi suffer through the first miserable transitional season or two, and be there to take over. My Yankee-fan friends ( and I have a few, which I basically keep as pets) have no hope, and know they cannot switch allegiances, because I won't let them in without appropriate penance and I will let them know when that is!

My new shirts are on the table, and I am in search of the Locker Room Caps...today is a good day.

I heard somewhere and feel it is so true: 2004 was for our parents and grandparents, this one is for us and our kids. Totally gratifying. I am wondering if matt will get his car egged, he has a red sox wrap covering the back of it.....
