Tomorrow night marks the third season premiere of Lost.

This year – the Lost producers have been granted their wish for one continuous season with no reruns or breaks. Well, sort of. As this type of serial drama is best experienced in one contained stream – ABC has scheduled this season in two arcs. The first six episodes begin airing tomorrow night, Wednesday October 4th and run through November 8th. Then there’s a brief hiatus during which the Taye Diggs’ drama Day Break gets a crack at recognition, followed by the return of Lost for its remaining 16 episodes from January through May. Cable and DVD have conspired to push the net’s hand and that’s a huge win for both the auteurs and the audience. No more of that annoying 2 weeks on – 5 weeks off jitterbug.
