Stupor Bowl
First off, I apologize for the brief radio silence. I have two large entries coming up that have been sidelined by a brief bout with the Common Cold. Hence – a short, abbreivated memo to y’all to fill you in on the forthcoming plans and give you a brief glimpse of where my head is currently at (for all you Geo-cachers – jot down these coordinates – 33 longitude, 26 latitude, 500% attitude.)
First some house cleaning… Some of you have discovered the Comments tab at the bottom of each blog. By simply clicking on this section, you are brought to a form where you can leave comments for all to read. I invite everyone to do so. Level criticism. Lodge a complaint. Piss and moan. I can take it. In turn I can comment on those comments. To which you can then fire back. Of course, if the battle grows too fierce, I always have the ability to launch the most embarrassing photo I can find of you (see above.)
Programming Note – In addition to using these pages to pay tribute to misty-eyed nostalgia, I also plan on sharing my observations of television shows, movies, games, music etc. The television shows which currently represent appointment viewing in my life inlcude 24 (Mondays), Scrubs (Tuesdays), Lost (Wednesdays), My Name is Earl and The Office (Thursdays.) Look for my comments the day after each air – starting this week. Oh, and then there’s The Wiggles, the Doodle-Bops, Bear in the Big Blue House, Jack’s Big Music Show and pretty much everything else that airs on Fox News… er, Noggin.
I’ll also be migrating some movie reviews that I have published in the past – including those from my former web digs at Biggerboat.net (run by my cuz Jason) and Pulplit.net. In addition I’ll add new reviews of flicks – so keep an eye out for my scathing expose of The Hefferlump Movie.
I also plan on migrating some past Blogs that I published on the aforementioned web-sites – simply because they took so damn long to craft, that I’d hate to lose ‘em. Where the Wild Things Are… Dead is one. I have another – focusing on my pre-pubescent crime spree – that should be up in a day or two.
Regarding these anecdotes, some people have asked, “How much is true?” Most of the details are 100% accurate – it’s in the tangents that I tend to color outside the lines. So – call me James Frey – but it’s my Blog and I’ll lie if I want to. Truthfully – most is true. I’m just trying to entertain – while inflating my ego at the same time.
Last thing – tonight’s the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh (who I loathe) against the Seahawks (who are in the NFC – meaning I know next to nothing about them.) As much as I hate to admit it, I’m rooting for Pittsburgh. The reason merely goes back a few weeks to the AFC title game – where the NFL tried everything in its power (from questionable calls to a sniper hit on Ben Rothlisberger) to hand Peyton Manning the championship. Fortunately, Indy’s jackass of a kicker, Vanderjakt, shanked a game-tying field goal and the grateful masses like me, got to take in the sheer majesty of the patented Peyton Manning sour-puss face. Granted, it’s more satisfying when Brady and Belichick give it to him – but it was rewarding none-the-less.
Anyway, what’s that they say about “the enemy of my enemy.” Yeah, that’s why Pittsburgh has my vote.

Ugh…you are going to root for the Steelers? Aren’t you one of the biggest Cowher haters among us? No? Well, I am. I can’t have him being validated as a good coach — may have already happened with the playoff run — and Big Ben being elevated closer towards Brady-like status. No, no, I must root for the Seahawks to win. I can root for local boys like Hasselbeck and Tatupu who are both the son’s of former Pats. The unfortunate thing is, the Steelers probably will win. The only silver lining I will take from that is a nice guy like Bettis will have gotten his ring as he leaves the game…

I hate the Steelers. I despise Cowher with a passion (where John Cheney is/was the ugliest looking man in college sports – Cowher is the meanest looking man in pro sports.)
But – I watched the Pittsburgh/Indy game and to my eyes, it looked like collusion between the NFL and Refs to grant golden boy, Peyton Manning, his coronation. So I found myself rooting for the Steelers.
I don’t mind Rothlisberger and Bettis – so I figure why not give it to them. Beside, Hasselback comes across as a bit too cocky – and the only good Tatupu is a Mosi Tatupu.
To be honest – this is a Super Bowl that I think I am really just watching for the ads – which will probably suck as the trend has been – the more the network charges for 30 second (this year 2 Mil) the less money left to actually produce something decent. Still – there’s hope we’ll see a few summer movie ads.

I just decided I am not even going to watch the game. You’ve got a point with the ads, but remembering back to last year’s craptacular ads, I have low hopes for anything entertaining this year. As for movie trailers, well I’ll catch those on the apple site.
BTW – I don’t know about Hasselbeck being cocky, but he does sound a bit poofy. Actually, Alexander does too, so maybe they sneak off to a corner of the shower together. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…
